Pharos: An Application-Oriented Testbed for Heterogeneous Wireless Networking Environments
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents the Pharos mobile computing testbed which focuses on application-driven validation of pervasive computing research using real hardware and real mobility. Pharos enables meaningful and reproducible validation at all levels of the network stack, including mobility modeling, routing protocols, coordination, application support, and system configuration. At the same time, the testbed maintains links with software simulation to facilitate the development of meaningful models to reflect actual physical network behaviors and constraints. Such an applicationoriented mobile testbed is critically important to bridge the disconnect between theoretical or statistical modeling and practical evaluation.

PluralisMAC: a generic multi-MAC framework for heterogeneous, multiservice wireless networks, applied to smart containers
Developing energy-efficient MAC protocols for lightweight wireless systems has been a challenging task for decades because of the specific requirements of various applications and the varying environments in which wireless systems are deployed. Many MAC protocols for wireless networks have been proposed, often custommade for a specific application. It is clear that one MAC does not fit all the ...

Seamless Messaging and intelligent network management. Both applications are agent-driven and share agent behaviours and the messaging agents rely on the network management device diagnostic agents for input. The paper introduces both problem areas in a common testbed. Usercentric seamless messaging assumes heterogeneous communication environments intended to support today’s nomadic users. The ...

OF THE THESIS Heterogeneous Networking Testbeds Integration and Wireless Network Virtualization by Rajesh Mahindra Thesis Director: Professor D. Raychaudhuri Networking research has grown immensely over the past few years. This has urged the need for a heterogeneous networking research infrastructure, to experiment with the interaction and integration of different types of networks. This requir...
متن کاملGNOMES: a testbed for low power heterogeneous wireless sensor networks
Continuing trends in sensor, semiconductor and communication systems technology (smaller, faster, cheaper) make feasible very dense networks of fixed and mobile wireless devices for use in many different sensing and decision-making systems. In this paper we present the design and development of GNOMES, a lowcost hardware and software testbed. This testbed was designed to explore the properties ...
متن کاملExperimental validation of a reinforcement learning based approach for a service-wise optimisation of heterogeneous wireless sensor networks
Due to their constrained nature, wireless sensor networks are often optimised for a specific application domain, for example by designing a custom MAC protocol. However, when several wireless sensor networks are located in close proximity to one another, the performance of the individual networks can be negatively affected as a result of unexpected protocol interactions. The performance impact ...
